and welcome to politicsnation from atlanta, georgia. tonight s lead, a split down the center. the midterm elections are just 16 days away, 17 states have already started voting in advance of november 8th. 12 states will join that list this week. and a brand new national poll from nbc news suggests that americans have their minds made up about several things ahead of next month. president biden s approval rating is holding at 45%. the highest number he has enjoyed in over a year, yet still lower than democrats would like with their senate and house majorities hanging in the balance. voters remaining evenly split on congressional preference. 47% preferring democrats in control of congress, 46% preferring republicans. the passion driving voters this election cycle is unprecedented. with seven in ten americans expressing high interest in this midterm election, a likely indicator that we can expect record turnout next month, but with that, our country remains deeply polarize ....
your vote, you can act. you can have the final word. this is not over. we went off the air at 10:00 a.m. on friday, and ten minutes later, this. this is an nbc news special report. . we have just received word of a decision in one of the most consequential cases before the supreme court in decades. the monumental ruling by the supreme court finally handed down more than a month after that unprecedented leak of a draft opinion suggesting the nation s highest court was poised to overturn the landmark 1973 roe v. wade case. the nation s highest court ruling 6-3 to uphold the mississippi abortion ban being challenged. chief justice john roberts supported that, but stopped short of overturning roe. that vote was 5-4, ending the constitutional protected right to abortion after nearly 50 years. the results follow decades after opponents of abortion made possible by three appointees to the high court by former presidential donald trump. the ruling reversed planned par ....
I think you will see this. and some of the candidates are saying it. the whole idea of a red mirage will do it too. they are voting early by mail. i think there is a lot we have to look at not only on how it will turn out but what counties in close races will do if they end up losing. i do think there is a 6% to 8% of the republican electorate who wants nothing to do with ultra maga or any of the ugliness they are seeing that will either go across the line to a josh shapiro or reverend warnock in georgia, or they will just leave the races plank altogether because they are not going to go along with a kari lake, herschel walker or doug mastriano because they are so outside the lines of what they consider decent. ....
Basel, steve just break it down for us. that is exactly why control of the senate rests on a knife s edge. tell me, what are you watching for in this final full week? well, there are a couple of things. if you look at some of the races in north carolina, wisconsin, florida, the african american candidates on statewide ballots. i m hoping if there is some concern among the voters, some hesitation among african american voters, especially in georgia, those candidates, which are the future of our party, will bring out a lot of those voters and really make a difference. it is upsetting that democrats are losing the argument on economy and crime. the fact that joe biden had a flurry of bills the last year and change that have addressed this, we have seen the increase ....
