Limerick s Live 95 Search By Live95 News Team via Getty Images The latest EY Economic Monitor for Limerick has revealed there is some cause for optimism despite major and unprecedentent disruption caused by Covid-19. The biannual report shows Limerick has shown resilience during the pandemic, with a key indicator being the creation of 860 new jobs and 194 start-ups to end of the first quarter of 2021. Another positive was that residential investment from August to end of February was €250m. The report found that Limerick has performed relatively well compared to other counties during the pandemic, however, the impact of COVID-19 has been dramatic, with 16,433 people in receipt of PUP and 10,659 people in receipt of the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme as of 22 Feb 2021. ....

The call for a resumption of indoor trading comes after it was confirmed hotels can open from early June. He said the VFI is extremely pleased that last year’s ‘substantial meal’ provision is now abandoned and the artificial divide between pubs serving food and traditional venues no longer applies. Push for Leitrim businesses to take up state Covid schemes Reporter: ); Leitrim County Council has awarded Restart Grant payments to 345 businesses, with 467 businesses benefiting from payments under the Restart Grant Plus Scheme. The Restart Grant and Restart Grant Plus schemes were designed to help small and medium sized businesses get back on their feet after what has been an exceptionally difficult time. The Restart Grant scheme was launched on 15 May, 2020 with a budget of €250 million. The Restart Grant Plus scheme was launched on 10 August with an additional budget of €300m from the Government’s July Jobs Stimulus as a result of the increasing demand for the scheme. ....
