Something unionists particularly dislike. they say that any laws affecting northern ireland as a part of the uk should lie with the british government. so all of this, labelling legislation, it will give ministers the power to take these measures if in effect there is no agreement to resolve the impasse in the protocol with the eu. the foreign secretary list trust has said these out reasonable, practical solutions and the government would prefer to resolve issues, but in the absence of that, they are pressing ahead with this legislation and on the other side of things non unionist parties here in northern ireland, the labour party in westminster and eu governments all strongly critical of the government s move here as a unilateral action against the eu and thatis unilateral action against the eu and that is something they say is undermining the trust of the british government that is effectively a breach of international law. the wrangling will continue but the journey this legislation ....
