Alliance's Rodman Library boosts safety with no-touch entry doors


Such was the message in a Facebook video announcing a facilities upgrade at Rodman Public Library.
Eric Taggart, director of Rodman Public Library in Alliance, said Information Department staff members Jaime Gross and Bryun Reed were the stars of a video that showed off one way to use the Main Library’s new electronic entry doors.
“If staff have particular interests or passions, I encourage them to share that in their work, so I really thought this video was great,” Taggart said.
The video shows Gross and Reed portraying characters from “The Mandalorian” using the new doors, which recently were installed using funds from the federal CARES Act. ....

Uncertainty surrounds Geauga Maple Fest


CHARDON — The sweet smell of maple syrup will hopefully fill the air once again this spring for the annual Maple Festival if the Geauga County Health Department accepts a modified plan for the event.
Festival President Annie Royal presented a proposal to City Council last week as a modification to the traditional Maple Festival reducing or suspending most of the festival events and activities to promote a healthy community as the worldwide coronavirus pandemic continues.
“It was very important to me that we have a plan moving forward with the Maple Festival and in regard to the pandemic,” Ms. Royal said at the Jan. 14 meeting. “Last year when we had to cancel, we saw that it was important to the Chardon community and the main goal of the Maple Festival is to promote the education of maple syrup production and also to bring together our community.” ....

Wellington Grille closes temporarily, urges diners to get tested after employee’s positive COVID-19 test

The owners of The Wellington Grille in Beavercreek are urging customers who ate at the restaurant on Christmas Day or Dec. 26 to get tested as a precaution after a member of the restaurant’s staff tested positive for COVID-19, the owners wrote on the Wellington Grille’s Facebook page early this morning, Sunday Jan. 3.
“Unfortunately, here at the Wellington, we have suffered another positive Covid Test with a member of our staff,” the post said. “As of this evening, in coordination with the local health department protocols and safety measures, we are temporarily closed for the time being as we have our entire staff tested and the restaurant sanitized thoroughly. ....
