steve bannon sentenced to go behind bars. a judge ruling today the ex-adviser to former president donald trump must spend four months in prison for contempt of congress and pay a $6,500 fine. bannon was convicted of contempt on two counts this summer, one for refusing to testify in the house s january 6th probe and the other for failing to turn over documents investigators demanded. bannon is now vowing to appeal. let s bring in cnn s senior crime and justice reporter katelyn polantz. the judge says bannon will not have to serve until after the appeals process plays out. tell us about the decision, how it was reached and what happens next. reporter: this was along sentencing hearing today, we heard a lot of arguments over the respect for congress versus the respect for the executive branch. at the end of the day the judge said, you know, there were some things steve bannon did to try and talk to congress, he never turned over any documents, he never sat for any testim ....
