Two years ago, Texas Sen. Charles Schwertnervoluntarily relinquished a prominent post chairing the Senate’s Health and Human Services Committee after an allegation of sexual harassment. Now, he’s been named chair of another Senate panel.

Two years ago, Texas Sen. Charles Schwertnervoluntarily relinquished a prominent post chairing the Senate’s Health and Human Services Committee after an allegation of sexual harassment. Now, he’s been named chair of another Senate panel.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced Friday that he selected Schwertner, a Georgetown Republican, to helm the Senate Committee on Administration for the 2021 legislative session, replacing state Rep. Bryan Hughes, R-Mineola.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Wednesday swore in Republican Drew Springer to the state Senate representing District 30 in a ceremony at the Governor s Mansion in Austin.
Springer was first elected to the state House of Representatives in 2012. He ran for the Senate seat after several other seats were vacated in a political domino effect after former U.S. Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Heath, was named director of national intelligence last year.
State Sen. Pat Fallon, R-Prosper, successfully ran to replace Ratcliffe in the U.S. House in the Republican-dominated district, and was sworn in Jan. 3. ....
