Matt Schaefer’s bill which would legalize permitless gun carry got underway in Austin Thursday. The bill passed committee with a 5 to 1 vote; Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr., was the lone nay vote. You can watch the final vote here. HB 1927 will go to the full senate for vote in the near future. If senators vote in favor, it will then go to Gov. Abbott. In addition to invited testimony, there were 146 public witnesses signed up to testify for and against HB 1927, which is authored by Schaefer (R-Tyler). Those testimonies ended at around 7 p.m., and the vote was taken at about 7:15 p.m.
