Drug drop-off nets nearly a ton The Telegraph FacebookTwitterEmail Lakin EDWARDSVILLE Nearly a ton of prescription and over-the-counter medications have been collected by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office’s “Rx 4 Safety” prescription drug initiative. Madison County Sheriff John D. Lakin, in partnership with Madison County Planning and Development and all of the police chiefs in the county, reports more than 1,860 pounds of prescription and over-the-counter medications. The medications have been disposed of at a federally regulated location approved by the EPA. Since the program began in April 2015, the sheriff’s office has disposed of more than 11 tons of medication.

Subscribe Delgado joined the City of Greensboro in December 2019 as manager of the Solid Waste Management Collection Division. In this role he oversees residential refuse and recycling services and yard, bulk and e-waste collections. Prior to his duties with the City, Delgado served as a branch general manager for Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc., a waste management business, in Puerto Rico, working closely with local and federal regulators to ensure full operational compliance. He also has experience with Republic Waste as a general manager.

COLUMBIA - In February, Columbia changed its trash services to a Pay as You Throw program, and now residents are required to use city issued trash bags. City-issued bags are not new to Columbia. For years, the city issued 50 bags per year, but they were not mandatory to use. Now, they are required. Each resident is issued 104 33-gallon bags, which averages out to two bags a week for the year. Some residents are left frustrated. Columbia resident Ednita Brown told KOMU 8 News she wishes the city would listen to her concerns. “I really feel like it s a pay for our mismanagement program, Brown said.

DeSoto has you covered. The city’s solid waste contractor, Republic Waste, will collect live Christmas trees for recycling on Jan. 13. Residents are asked to place their tree on the curb for recycling. Trees placed in the alley will go to the landfill. Residents are asked to remove all decorations and lights from the tree for recycling. Trees with flocking or artificial trees cannot be recycled.
