OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network and Trailblazer Studios have teamed up for the OWN Spotlight event
The Legacy of Black Wall Street.
The two-part special will premiere on non-fiction streamer Discovery+ June 1 and June 8, in addition to broadcasting on OWN at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
The Legacy of Black Wall Street tracks the rise of Black Wall Street in Oklahoma’s Greenwood District up until the tragic 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre that destroyed the 36-block booming business epicenter.
The special tells the story through the lives of five individuals who were there in the early 1900s: Loula Williams, Augusta Stradford, Dr. Andrew C Jackson, Drusilla Dunjee Houston and A.J. Smitherman. ....

About the Film
One of the worst incidents of racial violence in American history occurred 100 years ago, May 31-June 1, 1921. Known as the Tulsa Race Massacre, a mob of white residents set fire to “Black Wall Street” hundreds of Black-owned businesses and homes in the Greenwood district of Tulsa, Oklahoma killing an estimated 100-300 Black residents and leaving an estimated 10,000 Black residents homeless.
