Two Republican governors have now enacted new state voting measures into law during closed door or press excluded signings, and by doing so some experts believe at least one of those politicians may have violated the First Amendment.
On Thursday, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the Sunshine State’s new voting reform bill into law, but instead of inviting state and national media to watch the event, “reporters and television crews that showed up to cover the signing were turned away by the governor’s staff,” the Tampa Bay Times reported. ....

ATLANTA - The Georgia State Patrol is responding to the Fulton County District Attorney’s decision to no pursue charges against State Representative Park Cannon.
On Wednesday, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said she would not prosecute Cannon after the lawmaker was arrested on March 25 for knocking on the governor s ceremonial officer as Gov. Brian Kemp was signing the state s controversial new voting law. ....

Anchor Lester Holt stated the obvious in an opening tease that there was

GA State Rep. Won't Face Charges for Knocking on Governor's Door as He Signed Voter Suppression Bill

In Georgia, the Fulton County district attorney will not prosecute state Representative Park Cannon, who was arrested last month for knocking on Republican Governor Brian Kemp’s door as he signed a sweeping voter suppression bill. She said the public deserved to witness what was happening. Representative Cannon spoke to CNN last week about her arrest.
Rep. Park Cannon: “It makes me wonder why. Why were they arresting me? Why were they doing this? Why did the world have to experience another traumatizing arrest?”
In related news, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms issued an executive order Tuesday designed to “mitigate the impact” of Georgia’s new voting restrictions. The actions will center on educating voters, helping them obtain identification and training city staff on how to assist voters. ....
