The idea is that as elected officials to the State of Colorado, they are there to represent all constituents, and the goal is to work together for Coloradoans based on the will of the people.Representative Julie McCluskie (D), District 61, was nominated by her fellow Democrats to serve the role. It has long been a tradition that the Colorado State House unanimously elects the Speaker of the House. The first time in years that tradition had been broken was in 2021.
