BOISE (AP) â The harassment began soon after a report by a 19-year-old intern, who alleged an Idaho lawmaker raped her, became public.
One state representative sought a copy of the police report and made inquiries into how the young woman herself could be referred for criminal charges for reporting the alleged rape.
Another shared links to a far-right blog post that included the internâs name, photo and personal details about her life with thousands of people in a newsletter and on social media. ....

Committee nominates three to replace Lewiston Rep. Von Ehlinger

The three top choices are Glen Baldwin, Robert Blair and Hannah Liedkie.
Baldwin is a retired welder and small-business owner from Culdesac. Blair is a Leland-area farmer and Liedkie is president and CEO of Opportunities Unlimited in Lewiston.
The names of the three candidates will now be submitted to Gov. Brad Little where he has 15 days to appoint one of them to serve out the remainder of von Ehlinger’s term.
Von Ehlinger resigned his legislative seat last week, after the House Ethics Committee recommended that he be censured and suspended without pay for conduct unbecoming a member of the Idaho House of Representatives. (Lewiston Tribune) ....

Republican Idaho state Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger resigned Thursday afternoon, hours after the state’s House Ethics Committee had unanimously recommended he be censured and stripped of the powers of his office without pay.
Von Ehlinger was accused of pursuing inappropriate relationships with women who worked in the state Capitol, including sexual contact with a 19-year-old intern in March. That intern filed a police report accusing von Ehlinger of rape.
“After careful deliberation and prayer, I have determined that I will not be able to effectively represent my constituents in the Idaho House of Representatives and have decided to resign my seat, effective immediately,” von Ehlinger said in a letter read to the House at the beginning of its session Thursday. “I maintain my innocence of any wrongdoing of which I have been accused in this matter, let alone any violation of any law, rule or poli ....
