Photo submitted. Ice fishers have returned to the Kennebecasis River and firefighters in neighbouring communities want to ensure everyone is staying safe. Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department Division Chief Shawn White said they don’t recommend people go out on the ice at all, but for those who will, they encourage safety. “It should be at least four inches thick for walking or ice-fishing, five to six inches thick for snowmobiles or ATVs, and if you are going to bring a car on the ice, which we don’t recommend doing, the ice should be at least eight to 12 inches,” White said. ....
