Norway's Aker and Statkraft join Yara's green ammonia project

OSLO, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Norway’s Statkraft and Aker Horizons, a unit of investment firm Aker, have joined chemicals firm Yara in a plan to electrify and decarbonise a plant in Norway to produce green ammonia, the companies said on Thursday.
Yara, one of the world’s largest producers of nitrogen fertilisers, aims to cut all CO2 emissions from the 500,000-tonnes-a-year plant in Porsgrunn in southern Norway.
The partners will also jointly explore the potential for green ammonia production at a site in northern Norway. (Reporting by Nora Buli and Victoria Klesty, editing by Gwladys Fouche) ....

Saipem kickstarts plans for giant clean energy hub in Italy

MILAN, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Italy’s Saipem and renewable energy companies AGNES and Qint’x have applied for permits to develop one of the world’s biggest offshore clean energy hubs, to generate wind and solar power and produce green hydrogen, Saipem said on Thursday.
The companies have agreed to build 620 megawatts of wind and solar capacity off the coast of Italian port city Ravenna, installing 65 turbines of 8 MW each and building a floating 100 MW solar power farm, they said at a presentation in the city. Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has put climate change at the heart of his plans for Italy and has said his government intends to boost renewable energy and green hydrogen production. ....
