Georgetown election: Voters choose for selectman, School Committee Wicked Local Georgetown’s Board of Selectmen and School Committee will each be keeping an incumbent and adding a new face. Selectman Doug Dawes won reelection to the Board of Selectmen with 492 votes in Tuesday’s local election. In second place with 395 votes, and winning a seat on that board, is Amy Smith. Thank you to the citizens of Georgetown for trusting me to be their voice on the Board of Selectmen. 492 votes, Dawes posted on his campaign Facebook page Tuesday night.  I look forward to working on the challenges and changes that we will surely face. The Board is a team effort. I look forward to working with our new member Amy Smith, congratulations Amy.

Georgetown election candidate: Selectman Doug Dawes

Wicked Local Doug Dawes has had a busy six years on the Georgetown Board of Selectmen. And now, he’s looking to serve a third term. Dawes, a realtor and a veteran who served as a C-130 crew chief with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, has lived in Georgetown for 42 years. He was elected to the Board of Selectmen in 2015. As a selectman, Dawes has negotiated six cannabis company host agreements since Massachusetts voters legalized cannabis in 2016. He helped launch Georgetown CARES, a local panel aimed at keeping kids and young adults away from substance abuse.
