Despite a strong pick-up in production in 2021, thanks to the impetus of exports (+13.0% vs. 2020) and, to a lesser extent, to the resumption of domestic consumption (+6.5%), the Italian cosmetics industry has not yet returned to its pre-crisis level of activity, revealed Cosmetica Italia in a business update. However, the trade association expects a return to pre-Covid levels in 2022.

According to Enrico Zannini, general manager of BolognaFiere Cosmoprof, the 2019 event hosted more than 250,000 operators from 154 countries and more than 3,000 companies from 70 countries.
