Ren Xiaoyuan, founder of MyH2O, a data platform that charts groundwater quality across rural China, is among the seven recipients of the Young Champions of the Earth 2020, UN s highest environmental award.
The app tells residents where to find clean water and connects communities with private companies and non-profit organizations that provide potable water solutions. Since its launch in 2015, MyH2O has helped provide clean water to about 1,000 villages.
The 29-year-old became interested in environmental advocacy as a teen. She went on to earn dual master s degrees in environmental engineering and technology and policy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. ....

BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) Young people are leading the way in calling for meaningful and immediate solutions to climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, and their contribution for the environment can inspire many others, officials with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) told Xinhua in an interview.
Recently, UNEP has unveiled the winners of the 2020 Young Champions of the Earth prize. Ren Xiaoyuan, a 29-year-old Chinese female environmentalist, is among the seven winners.
By founding a data platform called MyH2O - Water Information Network, Ren provided solutions for the lack of information on drinking water quality in China s rural areas. Her project has also educated villagers on water pollution and successfully delivered clean water stations to tens of thousands of villagers in China. ....
