Ropar police form SIT to probe floating Remdesivir vials in Bhakra canal | Ludhiana News


Police said it took more than five hours to collect the floating vials initially near Salempur village in Morinda
PATIALA: Police in Ropar have constituted a five-member special investigation team (SIT), headed by an SP-rank officer, to probe the recovery of 621 Remdesivir vials found floating in the Bhakra canal.
Rupnagar SSP said the SIT will be headed by SP (headquarters) Ankur Gupta, and will comprise two DSPs and an SHO. He said they will seek the help from drug control department in the case.
He said police suspected the vials were fake as they found differences in the labels of original Remdesivir and those recovered from the canal. ....

K'taka remdisivir supply to increase to 20K vials per day for next 5 days


The four companies which are supplying anti-viral remdisivir to the government have agreed to increase the supply to 20,000 vials for the next five days starting from May 6 (Thursday), said Deputy Chief Minister and State COVID task force head Dr CN Ashwatha Narayana, on Wednesday.
Addressing press conference Narayana said, I have spoken to company heads of these four companies and put together, they have agreed to increase the supply to 20,000 vials. Till now these companies were supplying 10,000 vials in total per day.
He also informed, the companies have agreed to further increase the supply after May 9.
To curb any black marketing of remdisivir, he said the names of the patients for whom it is administered will be recorded and the names of those will be put in the public domain to ensure transparency. ....

RAICHUR: With two government schoolteachers who had been deputed on poll duty in Raichur district succumbing to Covid-19, panic has gripped members of the fraternity who had been assigned to election duty in the recently concluded Maski bypoll in the district. That 16 more teachers who tested positive have been admitted to hospitals has only heightened their fears.
In all, 56 teachers who were on poll duty have tested positive for the virus. There have been reports of some of the teachers undergoing treatment at private hospitals being fleeced to buy Remdesivir vials in the black market. ....
