Federal unemployment benefits for those displaced by the pandemic are set to expire early in September. Between now and then, those who have lost their jobs have a unique opportunity to take advantage of millions of federal and state dollars for short- and long-term training that can help them “restart” their careers in new industries and new jobs, potentially jobs that pay more.
One of the best industries to explore, especially for those who have great customer service skills from the hospitality and retail industries, is the health care industry. And you don’t have to be great with needles to find an ABUNDANCE of opportunity in health care, with the right qualifications.

Burrell College student group Protect NM donating PPE to areas in need Leah Romero, Las Cruces Sun-News
LAS CRUCES - Protect NM, a group of students from Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, is asking for donations of personal protective equipment they can distribute to health care providers in New Mexico.
The roughly 20-person group is a Las Cruces branch of the University of New Mexico division in Albuquerque. Its mission is to provide PPE to health care providers in locations of New Mexico where there is a need while the COVID-19 pandemic continues to course through the state.
Shannon Chan, media coordinator for the group and Burrell student, said the group formed in March when the pandemic first hit the state. As cases increased, so did their efforts.
