when the missionaries were sent from mexico to upper told to go they were to specific locations and establish missions, which would , thern become pueblos spanish term for a self covering community. mission san luis obispo grew out of the mission. this was founded in 1772. allwill see the statue at 21 of the california missions. is one of the once he started back in 1772. a few blocks over from here. between two creeks. the first building was destroyed by a flood, so they had to rebuild. it was lacking one of the iconic features of the california mission. second building didn t have tiles, it had a roof, which was highly flammable. it was attacked by native americans in 1776. they got the order to rebuild a third mission. this was the third mission that was constructed. you will notice there is a crack right behind the bell tower. where the reconstructed belltower meets the old original construction. belltower was torn down and 1890 s, and reconstructed in the 1930 s. and

father who was a prominent african-american minister in the state of north carolina, his parents were individuals who actually came out of the institution of slavery and ended up thriving as prominent african-americans in the state of north carolina. dr. shepard goes on to receive an advanced education at what s now charlotte university, and goes on to also become one of the first african-american pharmacists in the state of north carolina. shortly thereafter, he goes on to follow his father s footsteps and tries out the ministry, and travels the world with the international sunday school association, which leads him to his higher calling which ultimately becomes creating the institution that is present day north carolina central university. what about his role in terms of the creation of historically black colleges and universities? i think that the role that he had in creating that institution in particular, when we look back at it, there was, at the turn of the century
