There’s a new leader at Trinity Health of New England, parent company to Hartford’s St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Johnson Memorial Hospital in Stafford Springs, St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury and Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.
Montez Carter took over the CEO role Oct. 3, replacing Reginald Eadie who held the position since 2018.
Carter who began his career as a pharmacist most recently served as president and CEO of St. Mary’s Health Care System, based in Athens, Georgia, which means he is new to the Connecticut market.
Trinity Health of New England – which operates St. Francis Hospital in Hartford and several other hospitals and practice groups in Connecticut and Massachusetts – has named a new CEO.
Effective Oct. 3, current CEO Reginald Eadie will depart the Connecticut market to take a physician enterprise development role with parent company Trinity Health in Michigan.
He will be replaced by Montez Carter who will take the title of president and CEO of Trinity Health of New England.
Trinity Health of New England announced Monday that it is working to achieve “gender parity throughout its corporate leadership structure” by 2030.
The health system, which operates St. Francis Hospital in Hartford and several other hospitals and practices groups in Connecticut and Massachusetts, said it is working toward its new goal in partnership with Paradigm for Parity, a coalition of business executives, board members and academics that helps companies accelerate gender equity-focused changes in senior leadership posts.
As part of a larger strategy to expand its footprint, Trinity Health of New England has added services in Cheshire and recently relaunched its facility as a center for primary care and specialty services.
The system’s former Cheshire Primary Care facility at 1154 Highland Ave. is now the Cheshire Access Center, featuring primary care, cardiology, obstetrics and gynecology, gastroenterology and urology clinicians. The center also debuted a redesigned occupational health space and offers blood draw, laboratory, x-ray and radiology services.
