Holy Angels job fair to recruit dozens of employees

Holy Angels will host an instant-interview job fair Friday to help fill at least 35 employee vacancies at its campus along Wilkinson Boulevard in Belmont.
The Gaston County nonprofit provides care and opportunities to people with intellectual developmental disabilities and delicate medical conditions. Currently, 85 residents depend on Holy Angels for care 24/7, but about 10% of the organization’s workforce is vacant.
Most of the open positions are part-time weekend roles for first, second and third shift, though Holy Angels also has full-time openings, said Regina Moody, CEO of Holy Angels.
“We’re needing people that really want to be part of our mission and are willing to work hard,” Moody said. “The No. 1 reason our employees stay is because they enjoy our residents and what they receive back.” ....

Employees of Holy Angels establishments back to work

Employees at four special businesses in Gaston County returned to work Monday.
It’s been more than a year since employees of Cherubs Cafe, Bliss Gallery and Cotton Candy Factory in Belmont, as well as the Spruced Goose Station in McAdenville, have worked regularly out of the establishments. Managed by Holy Angels in Belmont, the businesses serve to provide employment opportunities for adults with intellectual developmental disabilities.
COVID-19 shutdowns prompted the businesses to close in March 2020. The businesses reopened later in 2020, but the Holy Angels establishments closed again due to health and safety concerns ahead of the winter months.
And while the businesses have been open this year, crew members, who are vulnerable to diseases such as COVID-19, have remained at home. Monday was the first time some employees worked alongside their team members and greeted their favorite customers in more than a year. ....
