(KAIT) - Attorney General Leslie Rutledge donated $250,000 to fund the Veterans Village project. According to the Attorney Generalâs deputy communications director, Stephanie Sharp, the money comes from lawsuit settlements that were in favor of the state, also known as the Consumer Education and Enforcement Fund. Sharp says the Attorney General has full discretion over the funds. Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver expressed gratitude toward Attorney General Rutledgeâs contribution, saying that they will be able to still complete the project âalmost three months ahead of schedule.â ....

JONESBORO â Around 5 a.m. Wednesday, Earl Long could be seen pushing his old shopping cart up Main Street. The cart is covered in cardboard signs stating, âNEED DONATIONS, ANYTHING WILL HELP, NOT HOMELESS.â Long, 54, of Jonesboro, just found a place on Gee Street after spending many weeks on the street with his 32-year-old autistic wife, Stephanie. âI am from Wisconsin,â Long said. âI got stuck here when I got pulled over after putting flowers on my dadâs grave. I was here 30 minutes when I got pulled over and spent two days in jail. They impounded my car.â Long said his wife spent several days walking the street before being taken in by a stranger. When he was finally released from jail, he said he was able to locate his wife by calling her phone. ....
