The president of the University of Michigan has apologized to anyone who was harmed by Anderson, a late doctor after several former students said he molested them during medical exams at the school. One man said Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020, that Dr. Anderson molested him during a medical exam in 1968 or 1969. Police started investigating the onetime director of the University Health Service and physician for the football team in July 2018 after a former student athlete alleged abuse by Anderson in the 1970s. Regents to discuss UMN Crookston’s strategic plans Mike Christopherson Crookston Times The University of Minnesota Board of Regents later this week will conduct “campus-level strategic plan discussions” with UMN Crookston Chancellor Mary Holz-Clause and other leaders of the Crookston campus. Each system campus is undergoing a strategic planning effort, known as MPact 2025, and UMN Crookston will be the second U of M system campus to outline its efforts for the Board of Regents. UMN Crookston’s strategic plan is on the agenda for the Regents May 13-14 meeting. Each day’s session begins at 8 a.m. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the meeting will be virtual in nature, with a livestream available to the public at youtube.com/UMNRegents. ....
Diversity, equity and inclusion training Senators will attend a training within six weeks of the start of the fall and spring semesters or of taking office. ASWSU Senator Lauren Slater wrote the bill and said the resolution is a passion project of hers. Slater said the bill’s intention is to ensure representatives of the student body are educated about how to be an ally to all students. Learning how to effectively and respectfully communicate with constituents is important, she said. “My hope with this bill is that we learn how to communicate better and communicate more respectfully with everyone around us,” Slater said. “Even us within the senate, and communicating with the executive as well.” ....
