Chemo unit move from Redditch to Kidderminster could become permanent

CONCERNS have been raised that the temporary move of the Garden Suite chemotherapy unit - from Alexandra Hospital to Kidderminster Hospital - could become permanent.
The Redditch Labour group have voiced fears over the future the Garden Suite, which was moved to Kidderminster earlier this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
At the meeting of the county council s Health, Overview and Scrutiny Committee (HOSC) on March 10, Paul Brennan, deputy chief executive officer of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, presented a future plan for care in the county following Covid.
Giving a verbal supplementary to the report, Mr Brennan cited the Garden Suite move as an example of temporary changes that could be made permanent. He said in the meeting: It may well be that following discussions within the trust we may wish to discuss with HOSC in the summer the potential for making that change permanent.” ....

Campaign against Ipsley cemetery plan gains further support

MORE than 700 people have now objected to a controversial plan to turn the Ipsley Meadow site in Redditch into a cemetery.
The plan highlights that “space for burial is diminishing in the borough” and the cemetery could provide enough land for between 60 and 70 years of use.
But some Redditch residents fear it would be a loss to the Ipsley community, as the land is used for recreational purposes. Others are fearful of the impact on wildlife and feel the land should be left untouched.
Now, Redditch Labour candidates Andrew Bevan for Matchborough, Sharon Harvey for Winyates and Joanna Kane for Lodge Park, are backing campaigners in their fight to keep the meadow as a recreational green space.  ....

Council tax set to rise in Redditch | Redditch Advertiser

COUNCIL tax is set to rise in Redditch after a budget was passed by Conservatives on the borough council.

Redditch Labour hits back at Covid photo editing claims

THE Redditch Labour Party has developed their response following claims they altered a photograph to show members wearing face coverings.
The photo, which was shared by the online political commentator Guido Fawkes, was initially taken on August 15 last year at a uniform bank event held in Redditch town centre.
The botched image was uploaded to the group s Facebook page and users quickly noticed superimposed face masks appeared to be off centre.
Only one member of the group appears to be wearing a real mask in the image, the leader of Redditch Labour Party councillor Bill Hartnett.
The photo was deleted and uploaded again with the edited masks covering their faces last month.  ....
