i thought the mayor was messing with me when he called me. got me up, 4:00 in the morning. reporter: this morning residents in one beebe subdivision got an unwelcome new year s surprise. thousands of dead birds cover the ground. jeez, what a way to start the new year, right? yes, sir, last year, floods. this year, birds. reporter: it really is like something out of a horror film. every yard in the area looks a lot like this one. dozens of birds litter the ground and the scariest part is, no one know house they got here. everybody is kind of amazed at this happening. reporter: most of the animals are red-winged black birds like this one. they re not just on lawns. we found so many on some roads it was difficult to drive without crushing one the we even spot aid ted some on rooftops. picking up birds on the street in yards, been run over. just a mess. reporter: arkansas game and fish has collected some of the dead animals and will perform ....
