A child has been rushed to hospital in Palmerston North after they were hit by a car on a busy commuter route. The child suffered moderate injuries after they were struck on Tremaine Ave about 4.55pm on Thursday, a police spokeswoman said. The incident happened near the entrance to the Red Sox Manawatū sports club. Also on Thursday, about 5pm, two cars collided at the intersection of Gillespies Line and Kairanga Bunnythorpe Rd. There were no reports of injuries, but one car ended up in a ditch.
