Newark: Ransome and Marles factory bombing raid survivor celebrates 100th birthday

A woman who survived the Ransome and Marles factory bombing raids of 1941 has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Gladys Welch was born in Collingham and lived in Bakers Mill ­— named after her mother’s family — until she was 11 .
They moved by horse and cart to Tolney Lane, Newark, before moving on to Farndon Road, settling in Cranmer Road in 1932.

She attended the school on Guildhall Street.
She started work at Webb Woollies before going to Ransome and Marles, where she worked for many years. ....
