Chennai, May 15 : A sum of $50,555 was raised by online chess game site www.chess.com towards Covid-19 relief in India by organising chess games featuring five time World Chess Champion Grandmaster (GM) V.Anand and four other GMs Koneru Humpy, Dronavalli Harika, Nihal Sarin and R.Praggnanandhaa recently, said an official.
The five GMs played simultaneous games online against those who had paid the necessary fees ($150 to play against Anand and $25 to play against others).
During the course of the games, donations poured in, taking the total to $50,555 against an earlier target of $15,000.
