Wicked Local The Select Board unanimously voted to support spending $250,000 from the town s Community Preservation Act account for design fees on future possible improvements to Memorial Pool. Residents at Town Meeting, which starts May 15, will have the final vote on whether to approve the design funds. Recreation Commission Chairman Eric Rosenthal told the Select Board on April 13 that the pool has been a popular gathering place since the 1970s, with few renovations over the years. Nearly a quarter of the town s residents use the pool each season. The project is being driven by the need to replace the pool s filtration system, which alone will cost about $500,000 to $750,000. The filtration system will need to be replaced after 30 years of usage by the time the pool renovations could be completed in the summer of 2023, according to Recreation Director Chris Fitzgerald. ....
