Road. this canal came up a foot in the past couple weeks from sheer velocity and amount of water coming down the mississippi into the river basin. a little optimism, but again, still expecting record crest on the river in morgan city next wednesday at 11 feet. a foot and a half lower than expected yesterday morning. we will have another update this afternoon around 2:00 eastern. still six inches above what they saw in 1973. so a long way from out of the woods. but again, not expected to be as high as earlier forecast, maybe we will be able to lower the forecasts even more. one thing we will figure into that, how many more gates they open on the morganza spillway in the next week. optimism at any rate, small, they will take it. mike seidel, appreciate it. time for another edition of soundoff where we look at conditions across the country and how they affect us. we want to talk about the south ....
