IL 97 to see pavement patching starting Wednesday

Illinois Route 97 between U.S. 150 and County Road 1290N will be getting some pavement patching starting Wednesday. According to a release from the Illinois Department of Transportation on Monday, work is getting started that will see intermittent daytime lane closures will be necessary during the work, which is expected to be completed in September. During construction, motorists can expect delays and should allow for extra time for trips through the area. Or, the use of an alternative route should be considered to avoid the work zone. Drivers that do travel through the work zone are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices, and be alert for workers and equipment. Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve more than 2,500 miles of highway and nearly 10 million square feet of bridge deck as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation. ....
