The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Monday a plea by Sharad Pawar against the Election Commission’s decision to recognise the faction led by Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharastra, as the real Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
After the ECI ruled that the Ajit Pawar faction is the real NCP, Prashant Jagtap said the poll body is working under pressure from the Union government led by Narendra Modi.
On Wednesday, Jagtap led by party workers staged a protest against the EC decision and some party supporters removed the plaque of Ajit Pawar from the office premises and broke it with a hammer. This didn’t go down well with the Ajit Pawar faction, as former corporator Datta Sagare reached the city NCP office premises to protest against it.
