In May 2016 Patently Apple posted a report titled "The California Institute of Technology Sues Apple over Wi-Fi Technology." Caltech sued both Apple and Avago (owned by Broadcom) over technology used in iPhones known as IRA/LDPC encoders and/or decoders. Apple lost the case in January 2020. Today, the verdict in the case was tossed out.
