One injured in Raynham apartment fire

Firefighters responded to 111 Leonard St. at around 5:10 p.m. and quickly put out the fire. A 51-year-old man tried to put out the flames using a fire extinguisher before rescue arrived on the scene. He suffered a serious burn to his leg and was flown to Rhode Island Hospital by a medical helicopter. Two residents of the apartments will be displaced. Raynham man suffers serious burn injuries during apartment fire

RAYNHAM  A man suffered serious burn injuries when a fire broke out in his Raynham apartment on Friday evening. The Raynham Fire Department responded to a report of an apartment building fire at 111 Leonard St. about 5:10 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters located a smoldering fire inside an apartment and quickly put it out, Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita said in a written statement. A 51-year-old man, who is a resident of the apartment, put out the flames with a fire extinguisher prior to the arrival of firefighters. The man was complaining of leg pain at the scene and firefighters discovered he had suffered a serious burn to his leg.

Raynham Fire awarded $10.9K grant for safety equipment

Raynham Fire awarded $10.9K grant for safety equipment Community Content Chief Bryan LaCivita recently announced that the Raynham Fire Department is one of nearly 300 fire departments across the state to have been awarded a grant as part of the Department of Fire Services Fiscal Year 2021 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program. The $10,900 grant awarded to the Raynham Fire Department will be used to purchase a gear dryer to clean Raynham firefighters personal protective equipment. On behalf of the Raynham Fire Department, I d like to thank the State Fire Marshal s Office and the Baker-Polito Administration for this generous grant, said LaCivita. Having additional equipment such as this dryer will benefit our firefighters greatly as it will help to ensure our firefighters are wearing safe and clean gear while on the job.
