An Oregon man faces a jail-term of two years for allegedly spitting on a cop after suggesting that he was infected with COVID-19. Daniel Ray Stubblefield, a 36-year-old serial offender with a history of aggravated harassment and menacing, has been battling mental health and alcohol issues. The officer however tested was negative for the virus.
“Most of the time, I can’t even remember these things when I’m told what I’ve done,” said Stubblefield to Judge Alison Emerson, during his sentencing in Deschutes County Circuit Court on Thursday. “I just wake up in jail. I’ve been trying very hard to beat this addiction. I’m sorry to all that I’ve hurt.” ....

Redmond following reports of an unwanted intruder committing assault.
On arrival officers found the intruder intoxicated along with having two warrants out for his arrest in relation to a different offense.

At some point, Stubblefield started coughing and
spitting at officers claiming to be infected with the novel
When back-up officers arrived they placed Stubblefield in a restraint device that had a spit mask.
Once in jail staff decided to transport him to St Charles Hospital but during transport the spit mask had been removed and Stubblefield intentionally blew air and coughed on the officer traveling with him. ....

Bend man gets 2 years prison for spitting on officer

A Bend man with a long history of criminal convictions will serve more than two years in prison after spitting on a police officer and telling him he was infected with COVID-19.
Daniel Ray Stubblefield, 36, was sentenced in Deschutes County Circuit Court on Thursday for aggravated harassment and menacing.
As part of his plea deal, three other pending cases against him were dismissed.
Stubblefield is diagnosed with schizophrenia and struggles with alcohol addiction, he told the court. The recent cases allege, among other charges, assaulting police officers, punching and biting his brother, screaming at and frightening his sister and refusing to leave his familyâs house after arriving there uninvited. ....
