2014. Good morning. Good to be with you. Im annemarie green. Weve learned this morning that the soldier accused of opening fire at ft. Hood, texas, last night, was being treated for mental illness. The soldier arrived at ft. Hood in february. He allegedly shot and killed three people and wounded 16 others before taking his own life. All the victims were members of the military. The shooting does not appear to be related to terrorism. Officials say he was confronted in the parking lot by military police. A basewide lockdown has been lifted and the base commander says his troops and their families will move forward. We know the soldiers and the civilians and the families of this fort who served so bravely in combat for the last 13 years in both iraq and afghanistan are strong, and we will get through this. Manned american spy planes are combing nigeria for the more than 200 girls abducted nearly four weeks ago from the town of chibok. Today, we saw them for the first time in a hostage video.
