thank you so much for your efforts. there s significant city wide efforts going on. one of the cities leading the way is the city of chicago. we are proud to be joined by chicago commissioner of public health. thank you very much. would you stand-up? [ applause ] one of our great partners at the federal level, assistant secretary of defense dr. jonathan woodson. dr. woodson is leading an effort across the military to stop smoking and tobacco use. we can all agree that deserves some applause. thank you dr. woodson. [ applause ] we are pleased the local champions and statewide champions are here today. it s an example of the exciting work under way but work we need to accelerate and continue. today, we meet at a cross roads. over the past five decades, we are learned what it will take to end the tobacco epidemic and make the next generation tobacco free. scientists, researchers and policymakers determined what works and the steps necessary to end the tragic epidemic. the ques
happening in venezuela and they are financing and that there is also a move to move in this direction. is there any is there any outside pressure or suggestions from abroad to maybe move a little bit more? i mean, i think that, you know, from the perspective of the brazilians that primarily are concerned with being repaid for their investments, so, you know, reforms that, you know, facilitate repayment, you know, green light those. they like. they like those. green light those right away. in the case of the cubans, i think you re primarily concerned about the oil shipments. so i think have they stayed low? yeah. no change? not that i m aware of. yeah. yeah. yeah. so okay. i mean, i think that i could see from a certain perspective the cubans arguing for more a more flexible economy, considering the recent reforms they have made to their own system. i think that would be i think that s plausible in some ways. and i also think that the cubans may h
culture in scotland, it sent too contested. which is good. and everyone who lives in scotland, permanent residency in scotland, qualified commonwealth citizen gets a vote. i am german, the accent never goes away. i am german. i have residency in scotland. i lived there for five years, once you get permanent residency you get to vote. if you are a scott that moved to england, you don t get a vote it. is the same for the scottish parliament. some don t like that, obviously it is not majorly contested because, this is the scottish parliament franchise. some didn t like that it is an agreed franchise. the idea, who lives in scotland, votes, that includes, i think 10% now of people who were born in england. for example, who have residency in scotland. that is the voting franchise, the only change was the lowering of the voting age to 16. that is a cross party consensus. geographically splits within scotland, we do see splits, there was a pole in glasscow, the crucial thing is. for
discussion of what the special relationship with the u.s. would be in the event of a yes outcome? it is really interesting, i remember the individual, it the day where we presented our new research results, gosh, we will be out of all the media today. we were still in. when the statement was made by president obam ait didn t move the polls either way, neither did it in january, when boroso made his statements, the substantial answer, i think, the issues about what happens in scotland dominate the decision making. we have seen interventions, i think, and slightly aneck do theal here, if you live in scotland, if you ever have been to scotland, it is never fruitful to try to tell scotts from the outside what to do. there is relatively little response to that. it is not they don t care, that it dwnt matter, people discussed it. it was not what people were basing their issues on. the core issues for people is what happens in scotland in the future. those issues were discussed. t
listening sessions held around wisconsin. people want us focused on things that will improve the economy and our way of life. that s why i laid out five very clear priorities for the next two years, create jobs, develop the workforce, transform and invest in our infrastructure. and it s also why i ve asked the members of the legislature to stay focused on these same priorities and not get distracted on other issues. one of the best ways we can show their state government is focused on jobs is to pass a bill that streamlines the process for safe andstart with the legislation that was approved in the joint finance committee last session, include some reasonable modifications, and send me a bill to sign into law early this year. [applause] people in northwestern wisconsin, where the unemployment rate in iron county is the 2nd highest in the state at nearly 12 percent. but the benefits will be felt all across wisconsin. we have the potential for a billion and a half dollar inve
