President i rise today again to speak about and honor our nations and north dakotas Vietnam Veterans and specifically these brave Service Members who gave the ultimate sacrifice through doing this honoring through my continuing series of floor speeches. We are in the midst of a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the vietnam war. This special period of honoring our Vietnam Veterans runs through 2025. Ive partnered with students from Bismarck High School in researching these soldiers and once again i want to thank their instructors r laurie fortie, sarah reenis and Allison Wendell for coordinating this project and sharing Students Research with my office. Northern city of rochelle leaving a path of destruction more than 25 miles long. We quickly went down to the basement. And could feel the tornado right over our house. Rochelles hospital in disaster mode throughout the night. Emergency crews quickly clearing debris. Rescuing a dozen people trapped in the storm cellar of this local restaurant. The back wall fell right on top of it when the tornado hit. And we were trapped. And we were about an hour hour and a half in there at least. Im in shock. Ive got no job and no car, so its its scary. So but im glad im alive. Just north in the cities of fairdale and kirkland illinois the local Fire Department says a tornado pretty much wiped out the town.
