90 visually-impaired athletes take part in Pindi marathon - Newspaper

The marathon was organised by the District Sports Department in collaboration with the district administration.
In the visually impaired athletes category from Morgah to Liaquat Bagh, Saifullah from Peshawar clinched the first position, Irfanullah from Mardan remained second and Mohammad Akram from Gujranwala third.
In the second category for open athletes of six kilometres, Mohammad Akhtar from Sahiwal bagged the first position, Mohammad Israr from Rawalpindi second and Sher Khan from Jhelum the third position.
In the third category of 16 km, Sultan Ashiq from Lahore clinched the first position, Usama Hassan from Lahore second position and Noor Shehrwan from Sargodha third position. ....

Rawalpindi: For the first time around 100 visually impaired persons will take part in a 6km long ‘Rawalpindi Marathon’ today (Sunday).
District Sports Officer Rawalpindi, Shams Tauheed told this agency that visually impaired people in such a large number have never participated in any marathon.
He informed that the race would be held in three categories.
The open category would consist of 16 km while the blind and under-16 category would be of 6 km, Shams said.
The race for the open category would commence from T-Chowk, Rawat while blind and under 16 would start from Morgah and conclude at Liaquat Bagh Sports Complex, he added. ....

RAWALPINDI: Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Zaheer Anwar Jappa on Friday said arrangements for the Rawalpindi marathon, being held on Jan 10, had been finalisd in which blind athletes would also participate.
He said the Rawalpindi Marathon, organised by the Sports Department, would be held in three categories of 16 and 6 km.
He was while presiding over a meeting to review arrangements for marathon.
The meeting was attended by District Sports Officer Rawalpindi Shams Tauheed, Traffic Police, Rescue 1122 and officials concerned of health department.
Mr Jappa said professional athletes would participate in the first category of 16 km long which would start from T-Chowk Rawat and end at Sports Complex Liaquat Bagh while the second and third category would be six km long from Morgah to Liaquat Bagh in which under 16 and blind people will participate. ....
