and i m john muller. there is further indication this morning that the disappearance of malaysian airlines flight 370 was not caused by a malfunction but was deliberately done. abc s kristin fisher is following the latest from washington. good morning, kristin. reporter: good morning, john and marci. well, u.s. investigators say they are now convinced that someone manually intervened with the plane s communication system. this morning american ships are on the move heading to the edge of the indian ocean where u.s. officials say there is an indication flight 370 may have gone down. they re now seriously considering the possibility that the plane s disappearance was not an accident. two sources tell abc news that the plane s two communication systems were shut down separately adding fuel to the theory that this may have been a deliberate act. maybe it was a hijacking. maybe it was a pilot suicide. maybe there was some elaborate plan to take this airplane somewhere and

credible reporter: the school resource officer launched an investigation found that more than a dozen boys were using their phones and other mobile media devices to distribute inappropriate photos. that officers investigation found that one boy a student at adam s middle was using photos of a female classmate to blackmail her right here on campus. we have been able to establish that there were acts, unlawful acts of unsexual conduct that took place during that threat that was made. reporter: investigators say inappropriate images were sent and received by students at adams, bristoll and exelsiur middle school. investigators say everyone involved including the alleged victim are between the ages of 12 and 14. despite their age the boys face very serious consequences. as of this evening there are still detectives out interviewing students. together to get as much as information we can. reporter: police tell me they ve seized more than a dozen cell phones to determine

good morning, everyone. i m brian shactman. we have a very busy new days. we want to get you started with a routine trip from philly to ft. lauderdale that turned terrifying for passengers over us airways flight after its nose gear failed during takeoff. investigators are now looking into the cause. nbc s kirk gregory explains what happens. reporter: scary moments for passengers, forced to evacuate this plane when a tire on the front landing gear blew during takeoff. she said the plane took off and then it crashed. it came down. and then it went up again and then came down again and then it basically, you know, crash landed. reporter: airport officials say u.s. flight 1702 was departing philadelphia international airport headed for ft. lauderdale, florida, when the aircraft experienced a mechanical failure. the pilot aborted takeoff. and the air bus a-320 skidded to a stop, nose down on the runway. all 149 passengers and five crew members fled the jet using inflatable c
