LAHORE: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s estranged leader Jahangir Khan Tareen and his son on Saturday secured interim pre-arrest bails from two courts of different jurisdictions in three FIRs lodged by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the multibillion-rupee sugar scam, which also carries charges of money laundering and fraud.
Mr Tareen and his son Ali Tareen reached the judicial complex to appear before a special court for banking offences and a sessions court, along with their counsel Barrister Salman Safdar.
The presiding judge of special court, Ameer Muhammad Khan granted bail to them in two cases till April 7, while Additional District and Sessions Judge Hamid Hussain allowed the bail till April 10.

LAHORE: Top officials of sugar mills owned Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s estranged leader Jahangir Khan Tareen and Sharif family did not join the ‘sugar scam’ investigation being carried out by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The FIA had summoned Tareen’s JDW Sugar Mills chief operating officer Rana Naseem Ahmed Khan, who remained former commissioner of Lahore, and chief financial officer and head of sales of Maryam Nawaz and Sharif family’s Chaudhry Sugar Mills for Thursday (April 1).
