A REMORSELESS Gulf War veteran who sexually abused a girl while in his teens has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.
Babysitter Antony Williams, now 37, molested the girl while he read bedtime stories to his victim’s younger sister – and also got her to touch him.
Despite being found guilty by jurors at Swindon Crown Court last year of two counts of indecent assault, Judge Peter Crabtree was told on Wednesday that the Penhill man still did not accept his guilt.
Asking the judge to consider imposing a suspended sentence, Don Tait, for Williams, said: “We cannot, of course, go behind the jury’s verdicts but he is adamant as so often happens in such cases that he has been wrongly convicted. ....

AN ARREST warrant was issued after a man found guilty of molesting a young girl in the 90s failed to turn up for sentence.
But that warrant was withdrawn later in the day when Antony Williams turned up at the crown court several hours after his sentencing hearing was due to begin.
The 37-year-old was found guilty by a jury at Swindon Crown Court last November of abusing the girl, whom he babysat, as he read her younger sister bedtime stories.
Jurors took more than eight hours to find the Penhill man guilty by a majority of 10 to two of two counts of indecent assault. He was cleared of three other indecent assault charges. ....

Fine for teen who egged police car and 'cycled dangerously' in Penhill

A teenager appeared in court charged with cycling dangerously - and egging a police car.
Corey-Jay Adams, 18, of Erlestoke Way, Penhill, was said to have swerved in and out of traffic on Hannington Close and Ramsbury Avenue on October 18, cycling head-on at cars and contravening the one-way system.
He also threw eggs at a police car on the same date.

Appearing before Swindon Magistrates’ Court, Adams admitted dangerous cycling, threatening behaviour, obstructing the highway and criminal damage.
He was fined £80 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge.
