Egyptian security authorities accused the Muslim Brotherhood of trying to “stir public opinion and spread rumors” by claiming Aisha Khairat el-Shater, daughter of the organization s leader, was in a serious health condition.
Egyptian authorities blacklisted the Brotherhood as a terrorist organization in 2013.
A security source denied the deterioration of the health condition of the inmate Aisha, who has been in prison since late 2018 on several charges.
The state-owned agency quoted the security source as saying that one of the pro-Brotherhood Facebook pages posted allegations about the deteriorating health of the inmate, saying she needed to be admitted to hospital for treatment.
