On February 2, Ramiro Sepulveda, a Canada Post employee, returned to work after an emergency suspension that came about after he refused to deliver a copy of the
Epoch Times. Sepulveda is the second of two workers who took this action after notifying the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) – the other, Linying Su, was born in China and cited a concern about anti-Asian sentiment being spread through the paper’s coverage of COVID-19. “I may not be able to stop other people from delivering these papers, but I can stop myself from doing things that betray my own belief,” said Su to CBC. ....

A Canada Post employee in Regina is back at work, after he was temporarily suspended earlier this month for refusing to deliver a sample edition of The Epoch Times.
Ramiro Sepulveda is a Canada Post letter carrier in Regina. Sepulveda said he opposed delivering The Epoch Times, because he believes it could contribute to anti-Chinese sentiment in Canada.
“I made people critically think. I awoke a certain group of people up to critically think and question things,” Sepulveda said. “That was my whole goal.”
William Johnson, president of Regina local CUPW, the union that represents postal workers, said two Canada Post employees informed him they were going to refuse to deliver the Epoch Times on Jan. 5, 2021. ....

2 Canada Post workers in Regina suspended after refusing to deliver Epoch Times

Two Canada Post workers in Regina were temporarily suspended earlier this month after they refused to deliver the latest sample edition of the Epoch Times.
The head of the local CUPW union that represents postal workers said both mail carriers were escorted from the building when they informed their supervisors they were unwilling to deliver the publication. They were suspended without pay for three days.
According to its sample issue, the Epoch Times was created to bring honest and uncensored news to people oppressed by deception and tyranny in communist China.   ....

In early January, The Epoch Times began showing up in mailboxes unsolicited.
The polarizing paper has been the subject of controversy before due to its sharp criticism of China and other right-wing issues.
In the paper s free spring edition, it ran a story with the headline “How the Chinese Communist Party Endangered the World” that accused China of covering up the COVID-19 pandemic.
On its website, The Epoch Times describes itself as a paper founded in response to communist repression and censorship in China. It said it uses truth and tradition as its guiding light.
In a statement emailed to CTV News, Cindy Gu, the publisher of the paper, said the sample edition was distributed to select areas by Canada Post to grow the paper’s readership and subscription base. ....
