The rocks had been arranged to form 12 four-foot hearts, each of which was ringed by yellow-pained seashells. Each heart 11 of them, because the 12th was consolidated into the others was glued to wooden shadow boxes for eventual display. “They’ll be sitting in storage this week while the glue hardens and we’re awaiting the display glass to arrive,” memorial creator Rima Samman said. “Then they’ll be ready to be displayed.
