CII-TS hails decision on lockdown

Industries Department stresses on operations with appropriate COVID-19 protocols
The Confederation of Indian Industry, Telangana (CII-TS) has appreciated Telangana government on its decision to impose State-wide lockdown for ten days from May 12.
“During the current pandemic situation, saving lives should be the top most priority,” CII Telangana Chairman Sameer Goel said in a statement. There is a need to break the chain and minimise the transmission links and the lockdown may help. All essential services, prioritised sectors should be allowed to function, he said.
A GO from Industries and Commerce Department, on the lockdown guidelines, said all manufacturing industries are permitted to function following appropriate COVID-19 protocol standard operating procedures. ....

'FTCCI, TS dept. can set up skill development centre'

The Commissioner of Collegiate and Technical Education Navin Mittal on Friday said the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education and the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) can collaborate to set up a skill development centre.
Addressing a webinar on ‘Understanding the benefits of apprenticeship for employers’ organised by FTCCI, he said the Department and the Federation can enter into an MoU for such a facility. The official also traced the concept of apprenticeship, the role it played in industrialisation globally and the relevant legislations in India. The country, he said, made amendments in 2019 to the Apprenticeship Act to improve the employability of engineering graduates. The National Skill Development Corporation mandated industrial training since it provides hands-on job experience. ....

Proposal to set up 7 mega textile parks in 3 years welcomed
Leaders of CII-Telangana and the Federation of Telangana Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FTCCI) have hailed Union Budget 2021-22 as growth oriented.
The budget is favourable towards improving overall economy with its emphasis on building strong infrastructure, developing a healthy India and reinvigorating education sector. Its stress on Minimum Government and Maximum Governance will strengthen the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, CII-TS Chairman Krishna Bodanapu said in a statement.
Noting the focus it laid on skilling by reviving apprenticeship programme, he welcomed the proposal to set up seven mega textile parks in three years, revising the SME definition and capacity building in health sector by way of either setting up or strengthening rural and urban health centres. ....

Telangana Industries and IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday said the State was not being considered by the Centre for projects such as industrial corridors and high speed rail connectivity despite performing well on various benchmark indices.
It is disappointing to note that the good rankings notwithstanding, the State is not in the reckoning when it comes to allocation of projects. “They go somewhere else,” the Minister said, adding it is a number’s game and the State has only 17 (Lok Sabha) seats.
