W'Bank to Disburse Additional $750m for States' Transparency Initiative

Dike Onwuamaeze The World Bank is set to disburse an additional $750 million to strengthen the implementation of the States Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) scheme. The scheme was approved for Nigeria in December 2020 to support the implementation of the National Executive Council’s (NEC) COVID-19 Plan. The planned disbursement was disclosed yesterday during the national workshop on Citizens Accountability Report (CAR) template under the SFTAS, which held in Lagos State for Southern states. The CAR is a series of audit statements prepared by a government agency on behalf of the government to the citizens to ensure accountability of public funds.

Ondo second on Budget Transparency Index 2020 Ranking On Dayo Johnson – Akure The Civil Resource Development and Documentation Centre, CIRDDOC has released its findings on the survey of budget transparency and performance by states. The Centre declared Jigawa State top among 36 States on Budget Transparency Index 2020 ranking with Ondo coming second. The survey was funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, FCDO, formerly known as DFID/UkAid, and implemented by CIRDDOC. Meanwhile, the Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo in a statement in Akure quoted CIRDDOC’s Lead Researcher, Engr Ralph Ndigwe, as saying the ‘2020 Nigerian States Budget Transparency Survey’ showed impressive performance by most of the states in their score along various perimeters.

This was made known by the Lead Researcher, CIRDDOC, Engr Ralph Ndigwe, why presenting ‘2020 Nigerian States Budget Transparency Survey’, which was funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, FCDO, formerly known as DFID/UkAid, and implemented by CIRDDOC.
