View from the service park: Finland There was something slightly incongruous about seeing seven-time world champion Sébastien Ogier deep in conversation with Father Christmas in late February. Welcome to Rovaniemi. Welcome to the WRC’s furthest trip north. Ever. And a very warm welcome to the very cold home town of Mr S. Claus. The WRC’s first visit to Arctic Rally Finland Powered by CapitalBox was a towering success last weekend. Not only did it provide a typically fast and fascinating Finnish round of the championship, but it provided a hugely entertaining event. Paradoxically, the frozen forests around Rovaniemi will see top speeds exceeding 200kph as Pirelli’s studded tyres dig into thick ice covering gravel roads to provide amazing grip. ....
Fourmaux set for Croatia World Rally Car debut M-Sport Ford’s Adrien Fourmaux will make his top-level World Rally Car debut at the Croatia Rally (22 - 25 April). The 25-year-old Frenchman is mixing a WRC2 title tilt with several outings in a Fiesta World Rally Car and the first of those will come on asphalt at Croatia’s maiden FIA World Rally Championship fixture. Fourmaux’s fledgling WRC career received a boost on Tuesday when it was announced that Red Bull will join forces with M-Sport to support his career. His Fiesta Rally2 will sport a new Red Bull livery at this week’s Arctic Rally Finland (26 - 28 February) before his World Rally Car bow at the next round in Croatia. ....
