Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait was Sunday detained by the Delhi Police at the Ghazipur border while he was trying to enter the national capital to take part in an unemployment protest rally at Jantar Mantar.
Sitting on a day-long dharna at Delhi's Telangana Bhawan, chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, along with his party leaders, issued the Modi government an ultimatum, giving it 24 hours to purchase 15 lakh tonnes of paddy from the state's farmers.
The bigger issue of minimum support price for crops still exists, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said in Muzaffarnagar on Thursday, as he questioned the intention and policies of the central government.
